Big Ridge a 2011-2012 Reward School

Big Ridge has always had an outstanding reputation of high performance and excellence in teaching and learning. For the 2012-2013 school year we were recognized as one of the top 100 schools in the state of Tennessee for our performance on the state standardized test. Our academic program emphasizes reading, writing and math but Big Ridge organizes instruction so that we can also place a strong emphasis on Science as well as art. Our school has a fully functioning science and art laboratory. Students are exposed to hands on instruction in science in our lab each week. Through the support of our PTA, we have art enhancement instruction weekly for each student. We are one of only 6 schools in Hamilton County to offer art instruction at this level.
