Mrs. Gilreath - A Teacher with a Diverse Background!

  • B.S. in Criminal Justice from UTC and a minor in Psychology (one class away from a dual major in psychology and criminal justice)
  • Stained glass classes for 1 year at Northwest Technical College
  • Bob Ross Painting Classes for 2 years.  Concentrated on wildlife painting and landscapes
  • Worked part time at a clay studio for 1 1/2 years
  • Middle school and high school concentration was in the arts

Mrs. Gilreath - A Teacher Dedicated to Big Ridge Elementary

  • Mrs. Gilreath has been the Visual Arts Instructor at Big Ridge Elementary since 2007.
  • Involved in supporting Big Ridge Elementary for the past 12 years, Mrs. Gilreath has seen 2 of her children graduate from Big Ridge.
  • During 9 years since 2001, Mrs. Gilreath was active in the PTA.  In fact, she served as President Elect in 2006 and President of the PTA in 2007.


Bio

The daughter of a salesman, Mrs. Gilreath lived in several places growing up, including Ohio, Atlanta, Wisconsin, and finally settled here in Chattanooga.  She graduated from Ooltewah High School and went to college here in Chattanooga. 

She married her high school sweetheart and has two children, Emily and Nicholas, both Big Ridge graduates. 

Mrs. Gilreath has loved art since she was a child and took art almost every year of her entire life!  She always chose are as electives in middle school and high school.  Her favorite thing to do is painting, but she also loves making stained glass windows, photography, and drawing.
