Big Ridge Elementary is nestled in the foothills of Hixson, Tennessee.  Built in 1978, the school has earned multiple awards including Blue Ribbon status, as recognized by the Department of Education, and also Best of the Best Public School, as recognized by the Chattanooga Times-Free Press.  Big Ridge is also a Tennessee Level 5 Reward school.

Big Ridge is led by Mrs. Jeana Johnson, who is entering her seventh year as Principal. Mrs. Shelly Jackson joined Big Ridge as Assistant Principal for the 2018-2019 school year and is still with us!  BRE has a current enrollment of 510 students.
